Purpose

The purpose of Unity of Anchorage, an Alaskan Non-Profit Corporation, is to teach the universal principles of Truth, as taught and demonstrated by Jesus Christ and interpreted by Unity School of Christianity and the Association of Unity Churches. In the accomplishment of this purpose, Unity of Anchorage conducts services of worship and presents classes of instruction. Our goal is to prove these Truth Principles by applying them in our lives and thereby demonstrate that they are as valid and active today as they have always been.

Our Promise To Each Other

We promise to support each other with our time, energy, talents, and resources to the best of our ability. We promise to interact with each other lovingly, gently, and with respect. We will do this in our thoughts, words, and actions, whether in each others' presence or not. We promise to constantly look for the beauty in each other, take no notice of small faults, and commit to support each other as we all strive to discover and live the Principles of Truth disclosed and taught by Jesus The Christ.

Unity Principles

Five basic ideas that make up the Unity belief system are:

  1. God is Absolute Good, everywhere present.
  2. Human beings have a spark of divinity within them, the Christ spirit within. Their very essence is of God, and therefore they are also inherently good.
  3. Human beings create their experiences by the activity of their thinking. Everything in the manifest realm has its beginning in thought.
  4. Prayer is creative thinking that heightens the connection with God-Mind and therefore brings forth wisdom, healing, prosperity, and everything good.
  5. Knowing and understanding the laws of life, also called Truth, are not enough. A person must also live the truth that he or she knows.
